I recently had a private retreat with Odyssey, specifically with Facilitator David Kahl. I cannot recommend David & Odyssey more highly.
David was able to answer every question, address every concern and completely put me at ease about the whole process and experience. He was able to explain what to expect without creating false expectations.
I also appreciated how professional the whole onboarding process was. Communication regarding applications, questionnaires and billing was timely and thoroughly explained.
David’s assistance during my journeys was perfect for me. He was right there when I needed him without being intrusive or interfering. Perfect! The post-journey integration guidance has been very helpful, as well.
Finally, on Odyssey’s website they discuss how potential facilitators are screened. They use what they refer to as, “The Family Test - Would we send a close family member to work with this person?” I have applied the same standard and have recommended Odyssey to several family members or close friends. Their experience at Odyssey was similar to mine.
My experience with Odyssey was exceptional from start to finish!
Before my journey, I had two coaching sessions with my guide to clarify my intentions, followed by two integration sessions afterward to help process and apply what came through in my journey. Setting clear intentions beforehand is absolutely crucial to a successful journey.
The journey itself was life-changing, and the intentions I set have manifested. I am so grateful to Odyssey and wholeheartedly recommend them for anyone considering a journey of their own.
I couldn't feel more fortunate to have had my first experience with psychedelics through Odyssey. I grew up in the Midwest, in a very traditional and "conservative" home. I would classify myself as being "mushroom curious" for the last several years as the realities of turning 40, having young children, and starting several businesses all started to weigh on me.
I'm someone who hasn't had much luck with traditional "talk therapy". But also the idea of "plants as medicine" was pretty foreign to me. I knew if I was going to try psychedelics for the first time, I didn't want it to be in a recreational environment. I wanted to do the work, I wanted it to help me get unstuck, and I wanted to have a productive experience.
The entire process with Odyssey put me at ease and I think frankly they undersell the totality of what you're paying them for. A screened facilitator (and the ability to interview multiple until you find your person), multiple hours of pre-experience preparation with that person and multiple hours of post-experience integration, a quiet and enjoyable facility to have your experience, and tested mushrooms ensuring you receive a predictable dosing. All of this combined with a comprehensive intake process.
Every experience is different. The only guarantee is that it will be unique and meaningful. I can't recommend Odyssey enough if you're looking for a professional, safe and structured environment within which to have such a profound and personal experience as your first psychedelic journey.
This was the single most meaningful experience of my life and worth every penny!
This experience, from the moment I booked until the present moment, has significantly changed the trajectory of my life in a positive way. My hope from this experience was peace. I wanted to minimize the constant internal battle, thoughts, negative self-talk, etc. This experience took me on a journey of learning who I am and all the reasons I should love the person I have become. Additionally, each step of the process was meaningful, beneficial, and far exceeded anything I could have expected. The staff were some of the most amazing human beings I have ever met. It was evident they were truly called to this work.
Odyssey is a human-centered organization that will change your life in ways you did not know were possible. Every step of the process made you feel that the organization goes above and beyond to help their clients.
Each facilitator excelled in personal qualities. They were kind, empathetic, patient, and great active listeners. Their overall presence was consistently felt as lacking any and all judgement. Their warmth was truly felt from the time I met them and throughout our time together.
Retreat highlights:
-Pre-meeting group zoom: This took away a lot of discomfort when first meeting everyone in person
-Service Center Visit (arrival day): This was a VERY important part of the process to me. Getting to know the full space, people, my physical space for the journey, using the eye masks, deciding on blankets, etc., made the day of the journey much less stressful
-Lodge: The location we stayed was stunning. That view, the living room, the fireplace, the food. It would have been a very meaningful experience outside of this, but this was a beautiful added bonus that I appreciated.
-Hike: I am someone that likes to move my body. Getting out of the house and taking a hike felt SO GOOD to me. I also really enjoyed the activity with Josh during the hike.
Where to begin? First off, this experience goes beyond dosing psilocybin. The Odyssey family has been so thoughtfully composed of selfless and compassionate individuals all with different stories and backgrounds. From the initial interview through the last day of the retreat I was treated with honesty and kindness.
This isn’t something I thought I would be participating in in my mid thirties; however, it has been one of the most profound experiences in my life thus far. Going into details would take a lifetime, but the shift in perspective has been astonishing. Looking back it feels as though I was living life blind before Odyssey.
My sense of awareness has been expanded ten fold and the ability to access my emotions has become so real. It's as if I am meeting myself for the first time. Things that once were neglected and shamed have risen to the surface and allowed me to articulate and process them in a healthy manner; everything from anxieties to smaller decisions concerning work and daily life.
Gabe and his team (the facilitators) are doing incredible work and the continued support from Odyssey during the integration process has been so valuable and insightful. This experience is a must for anyone looking to truly feel the human experience. Thanks again!!
After much research into psychedelics I decided that I wanted to try it. Being a psychedelic newbie, I was very, very nervous to experiment. Knowing myself, I needed everything to be right in order for me to go through with it. The right people, the legality, and the environment.
From the first point of contact with Odyssey via a Google search to its website to the journey and even the support afterwards, everything was great. I couldn't have had a better experience.
My facilitator, Frank was excellent. He is highly experienced and worked with me thoroughly and even shown a willingness to meet with me long after the session. The day after the session we even went on a long integration walk which was very fruitful.
Odyssey provided ample material for preparation, expectations and proper mindset. Gabe was very receptive to questions and concerns.
An emerging field that presents many questions, Odyssey plays a vital role ensuring these powerful experiences are handled with professionalism, safety and integrity.
Overall, I felt supported throughout the process and after. I would highly recommend Odyssey to anyone that is looking for the right place to go to.
Participating in an Odyssey psilocybin retreat was beyond amazing! The facilitators, locale, accommodations, service center, and Gabe, the founder of Odyssey, were so incredibly caring, compassionate, and attentive.
We were a group of eight participants who opened up about our lives, challenges, and traumas, and were supported with love and insight by the facilitators and by one another. Any concern or question we had was addressed. The love that was shared was palpable. Professional and meticulous and beyond thoughtful were the facilitators.
In point of fact, I am going for my third Odyssey psilocybin experience because I know that the experience will be stellar -- in more ways than one! Give it a try. I can assure you that you will be deeply touched and changed only for the better.
Embarking on a psilocybin-assisted therapy session at Odyssey was one of the more transformative experiences of my life. From the moment I entered their serene, home-like setting, I felt a sense of safety and care that set the tone for the entire journey.
Working with facilitator JP was a true privilege. His empathy, professionalism, and intuitive guidance provided the support I needed to navigate my experience. JP gave me the time, space, and safety that were instrumental in helping me understand and integrate the emotional catharsis I had during the trip. His presence was grounding throughout (even in the more difficult times), and it allowed me to confront the most challenging moments of the journey with equanimity and openness.
The structure of Odyssey's program, which includes thorough preparation and thoughtful integration sessions, ensured that the insights gained during the session were not simply left within those four walls. Instead, those integration sessions made me feel that I now have the tools to move forward in my next stage of life and confront what that time will bring. Odyssey's commitment to creating a nurturing environment is evident in every aspect of their service.
I wholeheartedly recommend Odyssey to anyone seeking deep personal growth and healing. This experience has left an indelible mark on my life, and I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to have taken this leap.
The Odyssey experience is truly amazing. Staffed by competent and caring facilitators, the retreat is built around providing safe and deeply personal journeys for each individual. I gained so many insights by exploring my own intentions and then sharing them with the amazing community built from others who brought their own perspectives and experiences to our circle. Everything about the retreat was so positive: the beautiful venue, the meals we shared together, the activities including breath-work, music, and spending time listening and being listened to.
I felt acknowledged and unafraid to do the work to get to the source of some things I really needed to work on. The Odyssey team believes in ongoing integration and as a participant, there are pre-retreat and post-retreat meetings and group sessions where we explore ways to continue to keep our journeys relevant. Don't get me wrong, there is work involved and it can be very intense. Lots of laughter, lots of tears but all very important as we go forward on our paths to just being the best humans we can be. I feel changed in a very good way!
Attending this retreat was truly one of the most transformative experiences of my life. From the moment I arrived, I was embraced by a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made me feel safe, seen, and supported. The facilitators were not only deeply compassionate but also impressively knowledgeable. I felt that they really blended the cutting-edge, evidence-based practices from researched protocols with heart-centered guidance.
The setting itself was breathtaking, overlooking the mountains of Bend and watching the sunset over the snow-capped mountains! Every element, from the gentle structure of the itinerary to the intentional integration sessions, felt curated with deep care and wisdom.
However, what truly set this retreat apart was the sense of connection to oneself, to others at the retreat, and even in some respects to something greater/difficult to describe in words. Odyssey created a container that felt sacred.
If you're seeking a safe, respectful, and heart-opening space- I can’t recommend this retreat highly enough. It changed my life — and I am so deeply grateful.
As a therapist, I attended the Odyssey Psilocybin Retreat in Bend, Oregon during a personal low point — a true dark night of the soul. Despite years of various therapies, medication, retreats, and 12-step recovery, I needed something different. Odyssey delivered beyond expectation.
The staff were wise, supportive, and deeply committed to this medicinal experience, creating a safe and sacred space to each individual and the group as a whole. The setting, food, accommodations, and programming were exceptional. Breathwork, intention-setting, group work, writing and integration were all profoundly helpful.
What sets Odyssey apart is how professionalism and humanity are equally prioritized - and the post-retreat integration groups are a wonderful add on support. I did a solo journey six months after the group retreat, which gave me another meaningful perspective. Both experiences have been transformative- though the felt sense of community and connections during the retreat to me is invaluable.
Though not inexpensive, I see this as a powerful investment in self-care. I plan to return annually until my home state legalizes Psyllocybin - and even then, I may travel to Bend to visit my friends at Odyssey! For anyone seeking lasting change and healing, I wholeheartedly recommend calling Gabe to inquire about the offerings. It’s unlike any other therapeutic experience I’ve had.
I attended an Odyssey psilocybin retreat and I can confidently say it was a "bucket list" level experience—one that I believe everyone should consider at least once in their lifetime. The retreat was exceptionally well-facilitated, professional, and deeply meaningful.
I researched other options, Oregon was the natural choice, as it is the first U.S. state where psilocybin therapy is legal. Odyssey stood out immediately. Their website exuded professionalism—thoughtful design, well-written content, and intuitive functionality. These small details signaled a level of care and attention to quality that inspired confidence.
The facilitators at Odyssey were outstanding. They were professional, empathetic, and incredibly attentive. Their approach was both structured and intuitive, balancing expertise with a genuine investment in each participant’s journey. They were knowledgeable, nurturing, and clearly experienced in the space. Their ability to anticipate participant needs and ensure a safe, supportive environment was remarkable.
The setting itself was exactly what I wanted and needed. The journey took place in a carefully curated space that felt both safe and inviting. One of the highlights for me was the level of individualized attention—participants had facilitators dedicated to them during the journey. This provided an extraordinary sense of comfort and security, knowing that help, guidance, or reassurance was always within reach.
During the experience itself, I appreciated the group dynamic. I wasn’t alone, but I also had my own space when needed. The facilitators’ patience was astounding, and their presence was always reassuring without being intrusive. The post-journey integration was equally valuable, providing a structured approach to integration activities that was beneficial for those who are more socially reserved.
In my opinion, anyone and everyone could benefit from an Odyssey experience. Whether you are seeking personal growth, emotional healing, or simply a profound and introspective journey, Odyssey provides a safe and expertly guided space to explore psilocybin’s potential.
I felt completely supported throughout the entire process, from pre-journey preparation to post-journey integration. The professionalism, attention to detail, and deep care exhibited by Odyssey’s facilitators exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend this retreat to anyone considering a psilocybin journey.
For those researching this experience, my advice is to pay attention to the professionalism of the organization you choose. Odyssey excelled in this regard, and my experience was all the better for it. If you are on the fence about taking this step, Odyssey is an excellent choice.
The most impactful experience of my life (not hyperbole).
I had been kicking around the idea of doing psilocybin for about 3 years.. I had watched every movie about it, listened to so many podcasts, etc.. I believed in the medicine and felt the time was right a few months ago.. I met with David and knew Odyssey was the place for me..
I did the group retreat (vs the private) and I'm so glad I did. The experience is hard to put into words..
Everything from start to finish was incredible. All the facilitators are some of the most amazing people I've ever met and I will be forever grateful for them. They are so kind, gentle, loving, and give you any space you need but are also there for you when you need them.
The lookout lodge was the most beautiful place I had ever stayed. The vastness of the mountains and trees that this place allows you to take in are absolutely breath taking. I found myself sitting outside numerous times just in awe.. I roomed with someone and it did not feel awkward for me at all (an initial concern).. I got 8 new lifelong friends from all walks of life and age ranges by doing and sharing this amazing experience with them. The food they provide is so good and flavorful as well..
The journey experiences were difficult, amazing, scary, joyful, and basically every other adjective you can put.. I feel so lucky to have had so many profound epiphanies thanks to the medicine.. I am not the same person I was before.. Just have a zeal and love for life and grateful for everything..
I feel like I could go on forever but I'll just end with, if you are thinking about doing psilocybin, do it.. It took me a lot to follow through and book the retreat as there was a lot of fear in me but I am so proud of myself for doing it and forever grateful for David, JP, Armond, Alex, and River..❤️
Transformational & mind opening....my experience with Odyssey proved so much greater than I could've imagined.
My mind was able access events I'd previously been unable to to process. The support I received during my journeys gave me the support I needed to move past those things that had previously held me back. The increased clarity & flexibility in my thinking allowed me to make strategic decisions for business as well as my personal life that've proved exceptionally helpful.
Facilities, staff, food, and itinerary exceeded all of my expectations. I'm extremely happy!
I recently had the transformative experience of attending a psilocybin retreat with Odyssey for mental health professionals, and I can't recommend them highly enough!
From the very beginning, their professionalism was evident. The pre-retreat Zoom sessions helped to foster a sense of community and emotional safety, allowing us to connect and voice our questions. Upon arrival, the facilitators were very organized, ensuring our transition to the retreat venue was smooth and welcoming. During the retreat, they set clear ground rules and expectations while guiding us through grounding exercises that prepared us for the psilocybin journey ahead.
Throughout the experience, the facilitators were present, attentive, and genuinely compassionate, making us feel supported every step of the way. After the journey, they provided ample time and space for us to process our experiences, grounding ourselves and facilitating holistic integration.
Odyssey truly understands the needs of mental health professionals like me seeking personal growth and healing. If you're considering a psilocybin retreat, look no further than Odyssey. You will be in best hands!
Went way out of my comfort zone to do something to better myself and find peace and closure in some aspects of my life.
I worked with my facilitator Brian and from step one all the way through to the end the Odyssey staff and Brian were incredible. I traveled 3000 miles from home to a place I’ve never been and had a lot of fear and doubts about doing psilocybin. But after doing endless research and reading reviews just like this one and speaking with Brian multiple times before my trip, my mind was at ease and I knew this trip was for me. From the warm welcoming atmosphere of the facility to the caring and understanding of Brian, this trip helped me achieve the closure and happiness I was after.
5 stars is not enough for Odyssey, I’d give 10 ⭐️ if I could!
To be completely honest, I came to Odyssey with some reservations. Not necessarily about the psilocybin experience itself, but rather the surrounding infrastructure. The idea that there was a number of group sessions both before and after the journey garnered some level of anxiety in me. Would I be forced to share in these sessions? What if I didn't like the people I was sharing a home with? Would the entire exercise be too 'granola' for me, coming from a corporate background in the Northeast?
Every single one of these concerns was thoroughly put to bed by the end of the first day. I cannot give enough credit to Aaron, our lead facilitator, along with his co-facilitators - Michelle and Alex - for creating one of the most open, encouraging (yet respectful) environments that also made room for levity, humor, and opportunities to remain grounded in the 'real' world around us.
For example, immediately after the psilocybin experience, Aaron went out of his way to order burgers and fries for a few of us who were craving. Additionally, the day after the experience, one small subset of our group went to enjoy a nearby pool, while another stayed at the house to relax. While things like this may not seem like much in and of themselves, I cite them as examples to underline the fact that though there is structure to the Odyssey experience, every single individual involved is empowered and entrusted to follow their own joy, and Aaron, Alex, and Michelle could not be more deft or capable facilitators for creating that environment.
It is solely because of the genuine care and compassion of every single member of the Odyssey family that my personal experience went from an initial expectation of a fun and unique way to spend a weekend, to a profoundly moving experience that has left me not just with new discoveries and a greatly enhanced relationship with my own empathy for both myself and those around me, but also a new family in the fellow participants. Every single one of them I would trust implicitly to reach out to either in a time of need, or simply to chat and catch up, and the authenticity of relationships that strong that are forged over such a short amount of time is a testament to the profoundly impressive capabilities of the entire facilitation team.
Finally, I want to take a moment to especially recognize and give thanks to Gabe, Odyssey's founder and CEO. Similarly to my initial thoughts on the retreat as a whole, I had some degree of skepticism that this was more of an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a new industry than it was about giving people from all walks of life the opportunity to experience something truly unique and potentially change their lives in profound ways. I could not have been more wrong. Despite there being no expectation whatsoever, Gabe stopped by the homes multiple times, often just to be a quiet, but comforting, knowledgable, and supporting presence in the room. I can give perhaps no better example than the message it sends of true compassion and dedication to the human impact of the Odyssey experience that he was just as quick, if not quicker, than anyone else involved to help do dishes after meals, or even run to the store for extra groceries. While I have no doubt he's a shrewd and capable business leader, no matter the levels of success he reaches, I will alway be impressed and admire his empathy, humility, and genuine interest in helping people truly improve their lives for the better and taking a genuine risk with his own livelihood in founding Odyssey to make that happen.
I attended an Odyssey retreat for healthcare providers. I am a psychiatrist with almost 30 years of experience working in the Bay Area.
The retreat was extremely well-run and staffed with excellent facilitators; all four of them were great, without exception. I had a difficult but powerful journey. I felt safe and cared for by the compassionate Odyssey facilitators and the whole retreat was done well. I highly recommend Odyssey. I may go back for part two myself!
I'm a former first responder - diagnosed PTSD and was struggling with panic/anxiety attacks, suicidal episodes, depression, etc. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars on various therapy and psychiatry care. Odyssey's attention to detail for my specific struggles, needed care, preparation for the psilocybin "journey", was so much more than I imagined going into their facility. Josh has a passion and gift for helping people and was by my side every step of the way preparing me for the journey, during the journey, and has been regularly checking in with me since my journey.
This group of folks has changed my life. I have see ten times the improvement from two months with Josh than I've seen doing various weekly therapy in the form of talk therapy, EMDR, neuromodulation, neurofeedback, and psychiatry for more than five years.
If you are a veteran, first responder, or have any form of trauma, please reach out to these folks for a consultation. I can now give my all to my wife and children without the lingering cloud of depression holding me back. I can now walk into a crowded noisy room without feeling like I'm going to hyperventilate or suffer a panic attack. I now have confidence in my skills and abilities that isn't bombarded by negative thoughts.
Thank you Gabe and Josh!
Inexplicable insight and clarity
Odyssey creates a safe and stress free experience. The facilitators' kindness, openness and expertise combined with Odyssey’s process and tools nearly guarantees a positive experience - as long as you show up and do your part. I felt everyone, including the facilitators, was there for the right reasons. I was able to reflect on my life and intentions without bias or judgement - providing clarity with pure confidence absent from anxiety or societal-driven doubt and uncertainty.
I wouldn't change one moment
This experience was like no other I’ve had in my life. It provided an immediate positive shift in my perspective and Odyssey gave me the tools I need to carry that forward.
From the moment you book the retreat to weeks after, you feel that Odyssey is there by your side. The setting was the most beautiful I’ve seen and the facilitators couldn’t have been better. I felt comfortable with Josh from the first time he called me. He is truly in the right profession and knows when to guide and when to just listen. Alex was just as impressive and is such a warm and compassionate human being. River is unique in that she has a calming influence just by being in your presence. I can’t leave out Brad, who was so warm and accommodating during both of my journeys. All of the facilitators love and believe in their work and it shows.
I truly don’t think I would change one moment of the time I spent in Bend. Everything was done at the right time to enhance our journeys and integration.
A life-changing event
My Odyssey retreat was a life changing event. I tried everything - decades of talk therapy, meditation, healthy eating and exercise, hypnosis, tapping, balanced hormones, supplements, cannabis, smoking. I made more progress in one retreat than 40 years of all the above combined!
A top-class experience
I loved my time with Odyssey. The leadership team and the facilitators were truly unbelievable, caring, professional, and intuitive. Every small detail was taken care of. The psilocybin experience itself was emotive, positive, and therapeutic. Truly a top-class experience.
A renewed sense of involvement with the world
I came away from the experience with a fresh look at my life. I felt more open, positive, and involved with my surroundings. It helped to renew my feeling of involvement in the world around me. The care of the facilitators was special. They were deeply engaged in the retreat process and brought a great deal of knowledge and experience. They had a great deal of experience and seemed to know how to help. I felt comfortable and at ease during the entire process.
Surprisingly affordable for how life changing it was
I can't even explain how much this retreat changed my life. It's like giving your soul a chance to be reunited with your body amidst breath taking scenery in a loving, safe environment. It was well worth the time and financial investment, and I may even say it was more affordable than it should have been after seeing all that went in to it.
Pure love and caring
This experience highly exceeded my expectations, and was among the most meaningful of my life.
I am an internal medicine physician, and I chose this program because I could share the experience with people who are in the healthcare field. The background and experience of the facilitators was reassuring and the thoroughness of the intake interview gave me a feeling of confidence in the professionalism of the program.
Odyssey created a safe, caring environment to experience your journey with other people in the most beautiful setting. Perfectly curated from start to finish. A sense of trust and caring pervaded the entire weekend.
The facilitator team was fantastic. Each facilitator brought a unique perspective and were wonderfully supportive, caring and open. Michelle was in charge and in control the entire time. Organized, compassionate and simply as good as it gets. Just pure love and caring
I would strongly recommend Odyssey to anyone considering the program.
Psychedelic Retreat
I am a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Trained Clinical Hypnotherapist as well as a student at Vital Psychedelics. Odessey is a highly trained group of mental health professionals led by a visionary who walks the talk of spirituality. My psilocybin experience was life changing. The words beyond trauma are present. I never thought this was possible. I have done a lot of my own personal work up to this point and will continue to do so. Thank you Gabe and Company 🙏
Astonishing
The location is exquisite, spent happy moments watching bats, birds against the backdrop of the Cascades - Broken Top and the 3 Sisters. Lavender bushes full of bees. Fantastic vistas. The house is beautiful and lived in. Minor fixes needed around the place but its beauty outweighed them.
As for the facilitators, I was astonished at how good they were. I feel like that part of Oregon (Bend area) is very rich in knowledge about therapeutic use of psychedelics. The leaders spoke of other experiences and research and were very generous with their time and knowledge. During the ceremony they were supportive. Afterwards with the integration pieces this continued. I never felt like it was intrusive. They listened, reflected and offered their experience. And I learned a lot.
The generosity, skill and support the facilitators provided made a huge difference for me. The medicine is strong - they helped me immeasurably through the process.
My group was fantastic as well. We all came from a similar professional field but - for the most part - did not know each other before. I have never experienced such caring and vulnerability from absolute strangers. I felt real connection.
This was a short event (2 travel days and 2 days on site) but was amazing. More than I imagined going in. Odyssey has worked hard to build up their program - thought went into everything but the whole thing did not feel packaged nor limited.
Belonging to each other
Gabe at Odyssey created an open and relaxed environment from the initial inquiry call to the morning of departure. Our lead facilitator was with us from pick up to drop off from the airport. The Odyssey team took good care answering my questions and making my whole experience comfortable. Their understanding of this potent medicine is evident. I have attended many retreats and the presence the Odyssey team provided me and the group was exceptional. My experience was transformational. I highly recommend Odyssey for your journey experience.
A Truly Amazing Journey
I had no idea what this retreat would bring my way but I didn't hesitate to sign up and trust the process, which was so professional from beginning to end. The facilitators made themselves available to answer questions, describe the events leading up to our session, and they were there every step of the way with empathy, respect, and thoughtfulness. Honestly, I was concerned because I was the oldest person in my group (68) and thought I might not fit in but the members of my group and the facilitators embraced my presence and eased my doubts.I felt safe to allow myself to experience the journey fully and it was very meaningful.
My experience was truly enlightening and amazing. I never expected to face what I did during my journey and the insights really opened my eyes to what I need to work on. I have a path forward. I'm so glad I took this step for myself.
