Am I a candidate for the Private Program?

Anyone who successfully passes our medical screening and intake process is a candidate. Certain medical conditions may prohibit you from taking psilocybin; in addition, Odyssey does require that you have a sufficient support network before having a journey with us.

Private sessions are ideal for those who prefer the privacy and attention of a one-on-one session, those who expect to be working through challenging psychological and emotional material during a journey, or those who simply need the flexibility of choosing the date that works best for them.

How much does the Odyssey Private Program cost?

The Odyssey Private Program starts from $2950, depending on which psilocybin facilitator guides your journey. While all of our licensed facilitators are highly vetted, rates may vary depending on a facilitator’s experience level, credentials, and specializations. Your payment can be split into installments if necessary and there is also the option to pay with Klarna.

For those who are incurring financial difficulty we offer a financial aid program. More details can be found here.

Where does this take place?

Preparation and integration sessions are held virtually and can take place from the comfort of your own home. State regulations require that the psilocybin session take place at a licensed service center, and we have hand-picked the most comfortable and trustworthy centers across Oregon and Colorado. These centers incorporate all of the essential elements of a physical setting for a psychedelic journey (safe, physically comfortable, aesthetically pleasing, quiet, and free of potential distractions or interruptions) and more, creating an ideal environment for deep, healing, transformative experiences.

We recommend spending 3-5 days in a location near the licensed service center. One to two days before the session should be spent getting comfortable and preparing yourself for the journey, and one to two days after should be spent beginning your integration process. Removing yourself from your daily routine and responsibilities to focus fully on your journey will help make it more meaningful and effective.

What do I need to arrange myself?

For private sessions, participants are responsible for:

  • Travel to and from the city where their session will take place
  • Travel between their lodging and the service center
  • At least three nights of lodging near the service center
  • Any activities and meals before and after the session

We’re happy to help you with any travel-related questions you may have! We will also send you a detailed travel and logistics guidebook for the city you will travel to, with recommendations for places to stay and eat and activities to do.

How much time do I need to dedicate to this program?

We recommend a 2-month timeline for this program, which allows enough space to choose a facilitator, prepare for your journey, and integrate the experience. However, the timeline is flexible: some clients are ready for a psilocybin session within two weeks, while others prefer to plan six months ahead.

Below is a suggested framework:

Week 1-2: The Foundation

Includes:

  • Optional exploratory call to determine the right experience and facilitator
  • Complimentary fit call with your potential facilitator

Week 3-4: Preparation

Includes:

  • Completing our 30-minute online health intake
  • Working through our preparation guidebook (approx. 2–3 hours)
  • Two 60-minute virtual preparation sessions with your facilitator to build trust and set intentions

Week 5: The Journey

Includes:

  • Spending 3–5 days near your session location: time to settle in, a full day for your psilocybin journey, and time afterward to ground and begin integrating

Week 6-8: Integration

This includes:

  • Working through our integration guidebook (approx. 2–3 hours)
  • Two 60-minute in-person or virtual integration sessions with your facilitator to make sense of your experience and translate insights into action
  • Two weeks of on-call support

Ongoing Support

Your program continues well beyond the initial 8 weeks. You’ll receive:

  • Unlimited access to monthly community integration circles
  • Up to five complimentary therapy sessions if needed
  • Alumni benefits, including 15% off for returning clients and early access to retreats
What if I don’t connect well with my matched facilitator?

Connecting well with your facilitator is essential for a positive psilocybin experience. If your fit call reveals, for any reason, that it is not a good match, we encourage you to book a call with another facilitator who may be a better fit, and to continue doing so until you find the right guide for your journey. We understand the importance of finding the right fit, and as such, all fit calls are complimentary.

What is the difference between an exploratory call and a fit call?

Exploratory Call: An exploratory call is a 15-20 minute phone call or Zoom conversation with a member of the Odyssey team. During this call, we’ll walk you through our process, answer any questions you may have, and help you determine whether a psilocybin journey is right for you. We’ll also discuss what type of experience or facilitator may best support your goals. This call is optional - if you already know which facilitator you’d like to work with, you can skip this step and schedule a fit call directly.

Fit Call: A fit call is a 30 minute Zoom conversation with a licensed psilocybin facilitator - the person who would guide your journey. This conversation focuses on understanding the facilitator’s approach, background, and style, and gives both you and the facilitator an opportunity to assess whether you’re a good match to work together.

Cost: Both exploratory and fit calls are complimentary as we want to help find the perfect experience for you.

How do I decide whether the Private Program or a retreat experience is right for me?

We invite you to compare the experiences here. If you’re still unsure, you can discuss this with a member of Odyssey during an exploratory call.

The choice between a private or group psilocybin experience depends on your intentions, preferences, and priorities.

The main advantages of a private session are more personalized, one-on-one time with a licensed facilitator, allowing for more individualized attention and support. This includes more time to connect and build trust with your facilitator before the journey, more time to work on integration with your facilitator post-journey, and receiving your facilitator’s full and unwavering attention during the journey itself. A private session may be the better option if you expect to be working through challenging psychological and emotional material during your journey, or simply would prefer more privacy and regular support.

The advantages of a group retreat include the opportunity to connect with like-minded others, to share in the experience with a sense of community, and to take time away from your ordinary surroundings in a curated retreat setting. An Odyssey retreat includes hospitality elements (accommodations, meals, concierge services) and pre- and post-psilocybin journey group programming that a private session does not. While each participant’s psilocybin journey on a retreat is inwardly focused, sharing the retreat experience with a group can be a unique opportunity to lean into the joyous and connective aspects of psilocybin.

Should I do one or two psilocybin dosing sessions?

We’ve found that, in most cases, a single dose is sufficient. However, there is a risk of unmet expectations. Adding a second dosing session increases the likelihood of a deeply satisfying experience.

What are the benefits to a second journey?

Lowered expectations: With just one session, a lot of hopes and expectations rest on a single experience, which can lead to rigidity and disappointment. Knowing there is a second session helps loosen these expectations, fostering greater openness and a more flexible first dosing session.

Richer integration material: A second session often complements or expands on the first, offering fresh insights or exploring entirely new themes. This results in a more comprehensive foundation for post-journey integration.

Prolonged neuroplasticity: There is some evidence to suggest that a second session, performed shortly after the first, extends the neuroplastic window, potentially amplifying long-term benefits.

Enhanced mindset for second dosing: Participants frequently approach the second session with a more relaxed, receptive, and curious mindset, allowing for even more profound experiences. Individuals commonly report that it was the second journey that really helped them get what they were looking for.

What is the timing for the second journey?

While sessions on back-to-back days are effective, allowing a day or more between sessions often enhances the experience by providing additional time for reflection and preparation. With a single dosing, we recommend staying for three nights. With a double dosing, we recommend four to five nights.

How much cost does it add?

The second journey is offered at a 30% discount, depending on your facilitator. In terms of overall fees including travel and accommodation, it often adds 50% or less to the overall cost.

Are there safety concerns with psilocybin?

Safety is our highest priority. Stanford and Harvard-trained psychiatrists helped design our screening process and review applications. Our team follows the latest developments in psychedelic science, and updates our screening and intake processes based on the published literature.

Psilocybin is generally safe and well-tolerated, especially when administered in a controlled setting with professional supervision. Researchers in the UK deemed psilocybin mushrooms to be safer than alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, and over a dozen other substances. Certain prescription medications and supplements may interact with psilocybin.

‍Most of these interactions are not dangerous, however they may impact the experience in other ways (e.g. diminishing or blunting psilocybin’s psychedelic effects). Potential interactions with prescription medications and supplements are addressed in detail in our screening and intake process.Psilocybin can moderately increase heart rate and blood pressure.20 Individuals with a history of serious cardiac conditions or unmanaged high blood pressure should exercise caution. These potential risks are addressed in detail in our screening and intake process.

A strong psychedelic experience may exacerbate or trigger the onset of certain psychiatric disorders, such as schizophrenia. Individuals with a personal or family history of these conditions should exercise caution. These potential risks are addressed in detail in our screening and intake process. The greatest risk that a psilocybin experience poses for most people is that it may uncover psychological and emotional material that needs to be processed, which can lead to challenging experiences during the processing period

Through preparation, journey, and integration with support from licensed facilitators, Odyssey group retreats and private sessions are designed to provide the support needed for anyone to work through these challenges.

How am I supported after the psilocybin experience?

Two integration sessions with your facilitator are included in the private program; if you’d like, one of them can be held in person the day after your session. After that, you’ll have a standing invitation to our monthly virtual integration circle and access to our vetted network of counsellors and therapists. And for those who need additional support but don’t have the financial means, we offer up to five therapy sessions as part of the integration process.

Do you do have a private program for couples?

Yes! Several of our facilitators specialize in couples work and family systems. Couples can either share a room and work with a single facilitator or choose to work with different facilitators in separate rooms while having their sessions on the same day. The choice depends on whether the couple wishes to focus on individual growth together or address relationship dynamics. We’re here to help you navigate this process and identify the best approach for you.
